Shimla

This erstwhile summer capital of the British in India is situated at an altitude of 2159 m. You may wish to indulge in adventure sports and activities like river rafting, angling, trekking and rock climbing, camping and golfing. A spectacular view of the surrounding valleys and a visit to the Christ Church, St. Michael's Cathedral and the Jakhu temple will keep you spellbound. By road, Chandigarh is 117 kms. Manali is 280 kms. and Delhi is at a distance of 370 kms. from Shimla.

Manali

This place of breathtaking natural beauty is regarded as the cradle of life by Hindu mythology. You can visit the intricately crafted Hidimba Temple, Manu Temple and Tibetan Monasteries all around. The hot springs of Vashisht and the picturesque skiing slopes of Solang Valley are other attractions. The closest broad gauge rail heads are Chandigarh ( 310 km) and Ambala (355 km). By road the distance from Delhi via Mandi is 570 km, and from Shimla the distance is 280 kms. 

Chamba

This hilly town was a former hill town which stands at an altitude of 996 m on the right bank of the River Ravi. It is well known for its temples with splendid architecture and as the base camp for numerous excursions. Chamba is 580 kms from Delhi and is well connected by roads. The nearest railhead is Pathankot just 118 kms away.

Renukaji

The Renuka Lake, 660 m high is fed by underground springs and lush green forests cover the surrounding hills. Renukaji is 315 kms. by road from Delhi and the nearest railheads are at Ambala (95 kms.), Dehradun (105 kms.) and Chandigarh (95 kms.)

Khajjiar

Thick coniferous forests encircle this 5 kms long exquisite glade at an altitude of 1960 m. A small lake lies in the centre of this natural green carpet. You will also find a 12th century temple dedicated to Khajjinag with life size images of the five Pandava brothers. Khajjiar is connected by road and is about 25 kms from Dalhousie.

Dalhousie

This Hill Station is surrounded by Oaks, Deodars and Rhodendrons, which still echoes the old world charm of the "Raj". Its colonial Churches, Parks, the spectacular view of the meandering river Ravi and Mt. Dhaulagiri are nowhere to be found. Dalhousie is 485 kms. From Delhi by road and the nearest railhead is Pathankot just 80 kms. away.

Narkanda

Situated at an altitude of 2708 m, Narkanda commands an unique view of the snowline, green fields and apple orchards. It is ideal for tourists who seek seclusion in the mountains and has leisure skiing. It is only 65 kms. from Shimla.

Rampur

Located on the left bank of the river Sutlej, it is presently one of the biggest commercial towns of Himachal Pradesh. It was once a major centre on the Old Trade Routes to Kinnaur, Tibet, Ladakh and China. Rampur is only 134 kms. from Shimla.

Sarahan

The road to Sarahan (2165 m high) winds through pine trees that give way to stately Oaks and Rhododendrons. The view of the fields and orchards surrounding the small villages with their slate roofed houses is a creation of a master artist. The famous Bhimakali Temple regarded as one of the Fifty One sacred Shaktipeeths is richly carved in the unusual Indo-Tibetan style. Sarahan is 176 kms. from Shimlaby road.

Kalpa

Situated at an altitude of 2960 m above sea-level and about 160 kms. from Sarahan. Kalpa is the main village of Kinnaur. This sleepy village dozes across the river and faces the majestic mountains of Kinnaur- Kailash range.

Jwalamukhi

The Jwalaji shrine nurtures the nine different flames that burns flawlessly through fissures in the age-old rock. It is one of the Fifty One "Shaktipeeths" of Hiduism which marks the place where Sati's tongue fell. Jwalaji is 212 kms. from Shimla by road and 123 kms. from Pathankot which is the nearest railhead.

Chail

It is a tiny resort spread over an area of 72 acres, nestled in the shelter of virgin forests in the Shivalik region of Himachal Pradesh. It was the summer seat of the Maharaja of Patiala. It is situated on three adjacent hills, the Rajgarh Hill, the Pandava Hill and Siddh Tibba. Chail is well connected by road from Shimla and is about 86 kms from Kalka.

Kullu

This fabled Silver Valley lies on the banks of the river Beas and beyond rises the forbidden heights of the Himalayas. Here, is the core of an intricate web of numerous valleys, each of which is a visual delight and seems more beautiful than the other. Kullu is about 240 kms. From Shimla.

Rohru

This bustling hilly town is located by the banks of River Pubbar. It is an anglers' paradise only 115 kms. From Shimla.

Parwanoo

This sleepy little village was transformed into a pulsating industrial town only a few decades ago. It is a convenient base station for tourists to visit a number of nearby areas like Kasauli, Pinjore and Subathu.

Naggar

This ancient capital of Kullu is situated on the left bank of river Beas at an altitude of 1851 m commanding an extensive view of the valley.

Mandi

This historic town is famous for its 81 stone temples and is often regarded as the "Varanasi of the Hills" This town bears a notable example of Colonial architecture in its old Palaces and "Havelis". Mandi is 210 kms. From Pathankot by rail.

Joginder Nagar

The enterprising kin Raja Joginder Sen of Mandi created an elaborate Hydel Power Station back in 1925 at 1220 m here and turned this sleepy hamlet into a bustling town. It offers everything from a quiet and relaxing holiday like trekking, angling, picnic spots and long drives. It is 55 kms. from Mandi by road.
